Scary Sewing

In honor of Halloween, our neighborhood book club is reading Bram Stoker’s Dracula for the month of October this year. I’ve been making some items for the Fall season in recent weeks and listening to the audio book version of this classic novel while I sew. The reader is very adept in acting out all the various characters and effectively brings Stoker’s story and vivid imagery to life with each passing chapter. While entertaining, I have to admit the subject matter and plot of this particular story proves a bit dark, scary and distracting at times, (no mystery there) so much so that I have to turn the recording off for a while, especially when navigating fine detail tasks like inserting a collar or sleeves on the shirt dress pattern I’ve been making.

Now that my shirt dress is finished, the fact that I chose this project to sew at this particular time made me laugh in the end, probably because of the color wine/blood! Power of suggestion strikes again.

After searching for buttons online, I found these beautiful textured beauties which have ended up working well.

Until the next time.
